Digital Mammography

I spent the past two weeks going from one doctor to another to have my semi annual executive checkup. First stop was with my OB-Gyne. Physical breasts examination was performed and she felt a few lumps in both. But to be sure, she requested for a mammography and breast ultrasound.

It was the second time for me to have these exams so I’m kinda ready for the “little pain and pressure” when having a mammography. My elder sister told me, the last time she went for one, it really hurt, more so when the “clamp” was pressing hard on her breasts, squeezing it so tight and was really so painful. So glad I didn’t experience that, or else I might pass out,lol..

Anyway, the hospital I went to already boasts of new equipments and machines and is very hi-tech. In short, they are already using a Digital Mammography. Take a look at some of the photos I have taken to see what it looks like (in case you haven’t seen one yet).

I only felt some pressure and no pain at all. Each breast must be squeezed down a little, even more, when you have more fat than breast tissue, lol. They have to do that, so the inner layers can be seen which is where the cysts lies.

Here’s a photo of the actual procedure, so you can see how it’s done. Mind you, it isn’t me,lol…

The result of my mammography and breast ultrasound was negative, thank God!

If you’re reading this and you’re a woman or even if you’re a man (I’m sure you have a mother, sister, wife, daughter), I highly recommend doing this at least every 6 months. Better to catch Breast Cancer at an early stage than be sorry for it’s too late.
