You are in the middle of a crisis. All your cash already spent. You need money to buy basic necessities for the whole family. The next thing to do is to withdraw from your bank account. But, what if all banks are closed and even ATMs have been depleted? A huge, huge problem, right? I’m sure you would have a fit and hate your bank.
In times like what we are experiencing right now, hate won’t help. Good thing that our banks are business as usual! With BDO Unibank and its skeletal workforce, obviously, we have to thank the bank personnel for continuously finding ways to go to work and back home.
In continuing bank operations including making sure that online and ATM transactions are working perfectly, they are at risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus. Not only that, but their families are also at risk.
But, in order to serve and to somehow bring a bit of normalcy to the day to day banking operations, these bank heroes are all the more committed to performing their duties.
They are frontliners too, in this crisis. Instead of hating them for the long lines, we should respect them for even just coming to work and putting themselves to risks. Perhaps, if you can say a simple “thank you” after your transaction, or saying a few more words like “salamat sa pag-asikaso kahit delikado and mag-ingat ka”. Such words coming from your heart will surely brighten their day and lift up their spirits and give them the courage to stay on.
Fortunate to be given an opportunity to blog about this though I already made a thank you FB status a few days ago.
