6 Ongoing Volunteer Projects To Consider

The world depends on the the philanthropic efforts of individuals. This ranges in nature from business moguls like Charles Reed Cagle who go out of their way to support a variety of charities to an unemployed intern fresh out of college volunteering for a valuable cause. For many of us, what we lack in finances we can make up for with volunteering.

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to travel around the world, experience a new culture and help people that are in need. There are hundreds of volunteer options available each year, and it can be almost impossible to choose one that is a good fit for you. Volunteering is a life-changing experience, and with these ongoing projects you are likely to find a good fit for your goals.

Here are 6 ongoing volunteer projects waiting for you:

The benefit at the end is having built a home for someone in need and seeing the smile on their faces.

They are very selective over who is chosen to participate, but it is the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Kumbo and volunteer.

Earth Watch

If conservation is something close to your heart, then consider working with Earth Watch. Volunteers travel to all stretches of the globe and work to change laws and conserve natural areas. Education and activism are huge part of volunteering with Earth Watch. There are even opportunities for teenagers. Expeditions are tough to be accepted into, but they are worth the effort it takes to get involved.

Volunteers work alongside scientists. If you have a degree in any area of science, then you are more likely to be accepted. A commitment for helping the Earth is a must.

These are all great ideas, but for someone who just doesn’t have the time (and I travel quite a bit), I find micro-volunteering fit my life perfectly right now!

Thank you for giving voice to these group of volunteer groups. I have limited time to give but I do volunteer at our church’s soup kitchen every Wednesday for three hours while we prepare/serve the underpriviledged in our area.

    1. That’s so good of you Maria! I’m sure you are making a lot of people happy 🙂
