BDO Foundation Completes Rehabilitation of Rural Health Units in Bohol and Cebu

BDO Foundation (BDOF) has completed the rehabilitation of the Getafe Rural Health Unit (RHU) in Bohol, its 150th since it started to embark on improving healthcare infrastructure and access in different underserved communities of the country in 2012.

Inaugurated on Oct. 26, the Getafe RHU is now more comfortable and functional for health professionals and patients with improved structure, offices, consultation, and treatment rooms. This latest initiative stands to benefit more than 30,000 residents in the municipality of Getafe.

“This is the 13th RHU we have worked on in Bohol. Five more facilities are in the pipeline. With the revitalized health center, doctors, nurses, and staff are now more empowered to provide primary and maternal health services to their constituents,” said BDOF president Mario A. Deriquito

As the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, BDOF has been at the forefront of uplifting lives and transforming communities through its dedication to the rehabilitation and rebuilding of RHUs, financial education, and relief operations.

Argao RHU in Cebu

BDOF also turned over earlier the newly renovated Argao RHU II in Cebu. This one-storey facility has become more equipped to provide quality healthcare services to 36,000 people in 22 barangays of the said municipality.

BDO Foundation recently completed the rehabilitation of rural health units in Cebu and Bohol, benefitting communities with improved healthcare services.

“We believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and this project aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact in Cebu,” said Deriquito.

Similar to other RHUs, the Argao health center features, among others, improved clinics, consultation and treatment rooms for primary and maternal health services, a waiting lounge for senior citizens, and a play area for children.

The Argao RHU is the fifth health center that the BDOF has rehabilitated in the province of Cebu.
