I love to bake… used to bake… and then motherhood happened, lol. Not that I’m blaming it but mommies out there know that life can be uber busy when you have your hands full attending to kids, house chores and a whole lot more. Back then I don’t know how to multi-task, thus chores piled up and I went crazy. In short, my love for baking took a backseat and a few years more into being a mom, soon forgotten.
Then came this Universal Robina Corporation invitation for the “Flourish Pilipinas Bake It Happen” Baking Competition 2016 Media Edition held last June 29 at the Galastars Culinary School. Got excited but then fear came rushing in because I haven’t baked in years!
So, I went and actually had a great time! What happened was, since this particular event was a media baking competition, bloggers and traditional media competed with each other. My partner was Lace and good thing she knows how to bake hahaha..
Pressure kicked in when the timer started and deep inside I was so nervous and didn’t even know where to begin. I just helped mix the ingredients, whipped the cream, and what do you know, we’re done! hahaha..
Our finished product No.3, cupcakes sprinkled with candies and a slice of Kiwi, which was by the way the secret ingredient that we had to incorporate. Good thing it tasted great and the Kiwi fortunately and unexpectedly sweet, so it kinda added a dash of flavor into the mix.
Sadly, we didn’t win hahaha, but the winners deserved the awards and the prizes. So much for my comeback but at least it perked up my love for baking and now planning to revive what was lost – my baking mojo!
Anyway, getting back to the URC Flour Search for the Next Filipino Bake Masters.
