Non-Surgical Ways to Prevent Ageing

Ageing is a natural process that can’t be stopped, no matter how much you try. Despite this, there are a number of steps you can take to prevent the deep effects of aging, helping you to keep your skin looking fuller and feeling firmer for longer.

You would be forgiven for thinking that anti-aging is nothing more than a bunch of creams or extreme surgery, but this isn’t the case. There are a lot more non-surgical ways to prevent ageing coming to the forefront that prevents the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, some of which can be done at home, and others that may require a visit to a clinic specializing in aesthetics.

So, if you’re looking for ways to preserve your youthful glow, consider the below treatments before committing to surgery or anything more extreme.

Micro-Needling

The first option you have is micro-needling. It sounds painful when you realize it involves running over your skin with lots of tiny needles, but your face will be numbed beforehand which means you likely won’t feel any pain during the procedure.

Micro-needling works by causing small wounds in the skin. In response to these wounds, your body will start to produce collagen and elastin in an effort to heal the area. The benefit of this is that your skin will become firmer and therefore look younger.

In addition to easing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, micro-needling can also help with acne, scarring, large pores, and hyperpigmentation.

Chemical Peel

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are one of the options you can do at home, although they do sound harsh at first. Essentially, a chemical peel involves applying a specialized solution to the skin which will cause the top layer of your skin to come off in a process called blistering. This sounds painful, but it’s not.

Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve areas of skin that have been sun-damaged, and minimize the appearance of age spots and melasma.

Botox

Botox is one of the most common forms of anti-aging treatment and is a good option if you’re trying to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from getting deeper. Botox involves injecting a muscle relaxant into a specific area, such as the forehead, which forces the muscles to relax and not contract when you pull facial expressions. It typically lasts around 12-16 weeks and can be used for a number of other health conditions, such as excessive sweating.

On the whole, if you’re looking to prevent fine lines and wrinkles, Botox is a good option, but make sure you’re going to a reputable aesthetician to get it done.

Laser Treatment

The final main way you can prevent ageing is to undergo laser treatment. It works by heating the skin which causes the underlying layer of collagen to tighten. Collagen is key to a youthful appearance as it makes your skin look and feels firmer which is associated with youthfulness.

Unlike other options, you may need several sessions to see more immediate results, but laser treatment is fast becoming a preferred method. This is due to the fact is has very few side effects and isn’t invasive like micro-needling or Botox. What’s more, you have it done on your face, neck, stomach, and jawline, helping you to appear more youthful all around.

Summary

Everyone’s skin is different and ageing is inevitable, and whilst it’s a process that should be embraced if you want to age gracefully, the options listed above may help you achieve that and stay looking younger, firmer, and more youthful for longer, without having to undergo harsh surgeries.
