I’ve done a few cooking contests but nothing like the one I did for NutriAsia in partnership with Metro Retail Stores Group entitled Metro CookFest 2018. There were only 3 people competing, one is a close friend, it was time-pressured, I was on my own and the cookfest was held in a public venue, at Metro Supermarket – Market Market!
We actually did the grocery shopping with only a P300 budget! Imagine that! It was my first time to shop with that small amount and the dish in mind was Spaghetti hahaha. I’m not really good at budgeting but I was quite impressed with myself coz I still have a few money left! Besides, items at the Metro Supermarket were a lot cheaper. I didn’t have a hard time looking for ingredients because it’s so organized. It’s a one-stop shop at Metro Market Market with a department store and the grocery below. No wonder there were a lot of shoppers!
We also had to use some of NutriAsia’s products such as UFC, Datu Puti, Mang Tomas, Golden Fiesta, Papa, Mafran, and Jufran. The Metro Cookfest 2018 also featured food sampling and cooking demos.
I only got to use UFC Tamis-Anghang Ketchup and Golden Fiesta Cooking Oil, though. I intentionally didn’t use a spaghetti sauce because I wanted to showcase UFC Tamis-Anghang Ketchup. Fortunately, things went well hahaha
The Metro CookFest 2018 was also done in other participating branches namely Metro Pacific Mall, Super Metro Colon, MarQuee Mall. Competed in other branches were selected shoppers of Super Metro Hypermarket. Winners were chosen by the guest chef and the NutriAsia Inc representative based on taste, choice of ingredients, and creativity of concept.
Here’s my Spaghetti entry though sadly, I didn’t win hahaha. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the cookfest and truly had fun!
